Updates for the Jan 21st Women's March on Washington

From Donna Thompson, former LCDC Chair & State Rep (as of 1/8/2017)

To my Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula friends. (Please share)

The Northern Neck Women’s March on Washington is gearing up to unite with the National Women’s March in Washington on Jan. 21, 2017. Thanks to the hard work of Eve Jordan, we have round-trip bus transportation from Kilmarnock, VA leaving that morning and returning later that evening at the very low cost of $30 person. The bus holds 55 and seats are rapidly filling up. The deadline for getting your $30 payment in is Friday, January 13th. Send checks to: Adventure Travel, PO Box 2155, Kilmarnock, VA 22482. Call Mary Brentat (804) 436-9200 for details.

The rhetoric of the past election cycle has insulted, demonized, and threatened many of us: women, immigrants of all statuses, those with diverse religious faiths particularly Muslim, people who identify as LGBTQIA, Native and Indigenous people, Black and Brown people, people with disabilities, the economically impoverished and survivors of sexual assault. We stand together, recognizing that defending the most marginalized among us is defending all of us.

We are confronted with the question of how to move forward in the face of national and international concern and fear. We stand together in solidarity with our partners and children for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families -- recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our country. The Women’s March on Washington will send a bold message to the incoming administration, on their first day in office, and to the world that women's rights are human rights.

Join us Jan. 21.

From Jo Chamberlain, Vice Chair, Precinct Operations (as of 1/2/2017)

Hi, I'm spreading the word that we have a bus leaving from Lancaster on the morning of the March. I have cancelled my RallyBus reservation in order to take advantage of the local bus. This bus is definitely going. As of this morning there were 15 signed up. The capacity is 55. Eve Jordan has been wonderful in organizing this transportation, and you can reserve a seat directly from her. Or, email us, to coordinate your ride with the Committee.

Email lancovadems@gmail.com for specifics and to let us know that you're coming.

This offer is open to anyone who wants to go. The cost will depend on the number of participants and must be paid in cash or by check, no credit cards. It will definitely be less than my RallyBus ticket would have been. If we have enough people it will be less than $50.

FYI, the group is officially Northern Neck Women Marching.

Also, I would like to know of any who are going from Lancaster County no matter how they plan to go. Let's show that we aren't giving up!!
